On selected Sundays of every month from December 2017 to April 2018, we will hold a “Super Sunday Specials”. These are special days for Marlburians and the general public to enjoy the Marlborough Flyer experience with friends and family at a special discounted rate.

This discounted rate has been made possible due to the support of our local sponsors and also due to the fact that on Non-Cruise-Ship Sundays, the train has time to run two return journeys (instead of one) as it can leave earlier in the morning – this allows the Marlborough Flyer to run at lower per trip operating costs, and this saving is passed on to locals.

  • 25 March 2018 – please note that there is now only availability on 09h00 departure from Picton and 16h00 from Blenheim
  • 8 April 2018

Picton:                                        09h00        and         14h00

Blenheim:                                  11h30        and         16h00

The journey from Picton to Blenheim takes 50 mins and includes the challenging climb out of Picton on a 1-in-37 grade, the fourth steepest rail in New Zealand.

Note the journey from Picton-Blenheim takes 50 mins and Blenheim-Picton takes 65 mins.

If you wish to book a return journey, go to the One-Way trip option (Picton-Blenheim or Blenheim-Picton) and at the end, you will be prompted to add the return journey option to your booking (or you can leave it as a One-Way trip).

For those opting to travel one-way from Blenheim to Picton, note that there are scheduled InterCity bus services on Sundays that depart from the Picton Information Centre to Blenheim. The last service on a Sunday departs Picton at 18h17. Contact InterCity for more details on this service.
